Military convoy scheduled for Thursday
Oahu-based military units will convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The convoy will travel via Kawaihae Road, Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road.
The convoy will have Hawaii Police Department escorts front and rear during its trip. Motorists are advised to be alert and drive with care.
The PTA Department of Army police are working with local authorities and military units to coordinate this activity in support of unit training.

Teen summer art party slated for Thursday
Hokulani Arts and Creative Learning Center in Kailua-Kona will host a “Summer Art Party” with artist Aelbert Aehegma beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The free event, aimed at discovering young talent in the community and encouraging children to participate in the center’s summer art camps, is open to children ages 11 through 17 and their parents.
Aehegma will select winners of an essay and artwork summer camp scholarship contest. Children may either write an essay explaining “Why art is important” or submit an art portfolio or samples in any medium, including sketches, painting, tape recordings or videos of dancing or acting. All art and essays will be included in a center art exhibition. Students who study with Aehegma will receive a certificate upon completion of the art camp.

New mailing address for Honokaa police station
The mailing address for the Hawaii Police Department’s Hamakua District station in Honokaa will change July 2 from a post office box to a physical address.
The new address will be 45-3400 Mamane St., Honokaa, HI 96727, according to the department.
Coffee auction supports cervical cancer prevention
The fourth annual Grounds for Health Green Coffee Auction raised $100,100 to help prevent cervical cancer in coffee-growing communities. Forty-four coffee importers and producers from around the globe donated bags of green coffee, which were then auctioned off during an online event. Over the past 16 years, Grounds for Health programs have been responsible for screening more than 34,000 women for cervical cancer.
Coffee from Lions Gate Farms in Honaunau took the highest price slot in the auction, with bids topping out at $50 a pound.
Suzanne Shriner of Lions Gate Farms said, “I see the challenges of health care in rural areas even here in the Kona region. The work that Grounds for Health does in the coffee community helps more than just families. It helps all of us in the coffee world who depend on farmers for our livelihood.”
Andrade completes basic training
Air Force Airman Tabitha-Lee P. Andrade recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Andrade is the daughter of Tanya and Terrence Andrade of Hilo.
She is a 2006 graduate of Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus in Keaau. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
